Ingredients

  • 1 box of chocolate cake mix e.g., Devil’s Food Cake Mix
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • ½ cup chocolate chips milk, semi-sweet, or dark
  • ¼ cup sprinkles optional
  • ½ cup chopped nuts optional

Instructions

Step 1

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the entire box of chocolate cake mix with 2 large eggs and ½ cup of vegetable oil.
  • Use a whisk or a spatula to mix the ingredients together until smooth and fully incorporated. The dough should be thick and slightly sticky.

Step 2

  • Once your dough is prepared, fold in any desired mix-ins. You can add chocolate chips for extra chocolatey goodness, colorful sprinkles to make them festive, or chopped nuts for a crunchy texture.
  • Gently fold the ingredients into the dough, ensuring an even distribution.

Step 3

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent the cookies from sticking and to make cleanup easier.
  • Use a tablespoon or a cookie scoop to scoop out equal portions of dough. Roll them into balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Flatten each dough ball slightly with the back of the spoon or your fingers to ensure even baking.
  • Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set and the centers are slightly soft but no longer glossy. They may look a little underdone in the middle, but they’ll firm up as they cool.

Step 4

  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes after removing them from the oven. This helps them set and prevents them from breaking apart.
  • After cooling on the sheet, transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.
